September 27, 2007High Button ShoeRanting Ravenfarm updateshow information...we are experiencing a typical fall day of rain, showers, sun (not enough of that), and all because I am packing for a show this weekend. Never fails. Mother Nature and me are rarely on the same agenda when it comes to events, especially when I am outside. This show however is inside. It is just the packing of the trailer from the barn that is outside...in the on and off showers.Miss Martha..the reincarnate of Martha Washington she tells me (friend Maxine) was just here for coffee and took some of the goodies off my hands so I didn't have to pack them. Makes room for more at the show! and she in turn now has some old primitives for her shed she is working on.I loaned Miss Martha my copy of Simple Goods tape www.simplegoods.net of their very primitive homes, which is absolutely wonderful, by the way. I sit with coffee and am mesmerized by the homes of Candy Looker, Max and Amy. More primitive than me,( I drool when looking at their houses) excellent taste, tapes of their homes during the fall events and Christmas. Decorated to the hilt. I LOVE that video. I will give you more on their November show next month. It is in Mt Vernon Ohio and one of THE BEST shows around for primitive antiques and folk art.As I look back at the photographs I have taken in the past few years at our old house, and now the ones of the farmhouse, it occurred to me perhaps I should put together a disc of the pictures of both of the houses. Would that be something that might interest people? And to think, when I started learning the digital camera, I caused myself many days (weeks!) of frustration, learning how to do it. Then I put the batteries in and got serious. That along with my pathetic look where I bought it and a very nice YOUNG man who talked me thru the process and I started making some headway. I barely limped into this century, you will recall, and am a technical idiot. Well, an idiot in a few other areas, too, but I have come a lllloooonnnnnggggg way with the camera! The photographs you have seen for the past two years or so of our product line and the houses were taken by me! I know. You just don't believe it!Back to Miss Martha and the show this weekend. I regressed there for a bit. That's what I wanted to tell you about. The show. It probably matters not that Miss Martha came, to you, but we always can spend an hour or so chatting about decorating. And she hadn't seen the farmhouse since we moved in, so got the full tour.If you haven't been into our website lately..we have the show information on the home page, that I am doing this weekend in Cadillac Michigan. Realizing, of course, many of you are not from Michigan (!!!), but still wanted to catch those of you who are.It is the Keepsake Collection Show that usually do shows down state, but are doing the first time in the north. 1320 N. I will be taking drieds, antiques( a few tables and chairs), my absolute MOST favorite bench Ronnie has strongly suggested I should consider selling.... Odds and ends, and a lot of $5 items!Ranting Raven comes out on October 1st. I have to be uploaded by Sunday night, which means I will have to upload either tonight or early tomorrow. And I haven't got a clue at the moment what I will be showing. That is not generally a good sign. No, probably not. Whatever I put up, we can be found on http://www.rantingraven.com/Exhibit95.phpAlso while there, please check out goodest-s of mine (friends) Miss Elspeth / Wendy of Pineberry Lane ( a chum who specializes in very primitive makedo's and some dolls and stitcheries...)and another dear friend BitterSweet Susan. Susan HAND sews her items. Also check out Mustard Seed Originals. I have several of Sharon's really nasty grunged makedo's out for the fall season and I smile each time I look at them. She is a master of black folk art. Also wanted to mention I got a card this week for a show in Kokomo, Indiana for a fall gathering from Beth's Main Street Folkart. 115 Kingston Road. Kokomo, 46901 phone 765-236-1000October 6/10-6 October 7/11-4Winter Gatherings Nov3/10-6 and Nov4/ 11-5Beth Natoro and Elizabeth Gentry will "delight your senses with their overdyed homespuns, wools & textiles, antique linens, early reproduction furniture, historical samplers & handwork, needfuls and smalls, drieds and smell goods ( I LOVE that wording..), antiques and one of a kinds. Limited seasonal items and extreme primitives.Enjoy refreshments at Elizabeth's home."This sounds like MY kind of place. So if you are in that area, perhaps you might like to check them out. Primitives and needfuls. Who could ask for more??Ron came home in time to load the trailer for me. He, is of course, the master packer. The organized. I am the not. So it is well he came home before I had the open trailer all jammed up with tables, chairs and benches, the big potting bench and the old large garden trellis, stuff hanging off the edges and looking somewhat like the old Clampett reruns. No doubt losing 1/2 my load as I drove down the road. I just don't know why my brain doesn't think like his does!I went shopping yesterday for some clothes to wear. Clothes shopping has a very low rung on my ladder of favorite things to do. Very low. Now a good flea market or garage sale anyday, but NOT buying clothes. But I had a really nice time. Having given away practically my entire wardrobe, a generous term for my clothes most of the time... I needed to replace some essentials. Jeans. I went to Goodwill and came home with some jeans that fit me, so I am back in business again. And a gorgeous dress two sizes small, that is my goal to get into. I want to lose another 14 more pounds. This past month I have kept the same. Not up, not down. So I am still at 73 pounds lost. My new goal is the 14 pounds off by the end of the year. Telling you that should spur me on in the right direction... or not.Ok, I still have a lot to do tonight. Ron thinks he needs supper. And I have lists to go over for the show stuff to take. At the moment I am wondering where on earth the purple tool box is that holds the hammer, nails, wire, twine etc, we use at shows for set up. This is a MUST HAVE for the show. I knew where it was at the other house. Not a clue here. But it must be found before I leave to set up at the show. Drats.Hope those of you close enough to come to this show can come! And those in Indiana, check out that show. It sounds good! Thanks for asking to be a part of our farm!in fond regard,Tilda, taker of picturesnew jeanscut my hair off 5 inches!the rosemary is still thrivingIf you should decide to unsubscribe, just let me know.
