High Button ShoeOctober 7, 2007Tilda & Beulahnew photographs!...this is not to sell you anything, merely to share new photographs we have taken. This morning, as many early fall mornings in northern Michigan are, was shrouded in fog with the sun breaking thru occasionally until it finally cleared off. Ronnie and me were sitting in the living room with steaming coffee.. well mine steams. He continues with the theory that I drink mine boiling yet, which is not too far off base...so I drink coffee while he sits with his...when we noticed 'the neighbor' ( Beulah ) in her white robe, barefooted, standing out in our yard in the fog with her camera. She and I, having coffee on her porch, had discussed the night before, watching the sun set, about how beautiful it is right now. Not necessarily the fall tree color, but just an overall beauty there is. Trees are shedding their leaves, leaving their magnificent branches, bare or nearly so, which are mesmerizing to glance at, especially with the sunrise, sunset, or in this mornings case, the fog.Much better than her mother, taking photographs, she captured some awesome landscapes, and I wanted to share them with you. Some are trees and yard art from both her house (my old house) and the farmhouse and the farm itself. Here are the links to them.Always intrigued by trees, in any season, but often the most, by the trees barren of foliage, you will see a few with some walnuts still clinging tenaciously to their branches. Our resident neighborhood black squirrel, that we have fondly monikered "Rufus", has been very busy "burying" the walnuts in various places around both our yards. The other day I picked up a pail of them from one of Beu's trees and brought them over here to scatter under our walnut tree, so he wouldn't be crossing our dirt road so many times with his treasured walnut. While he is actually burying some of them, several are buried only 1/4 inch deep, so the entire walnut shows in the yard! He is very entertaining! Some are lone trees in the field, which I always look at wherever I see them. Some are the apple trees of the farm. A few show the Christmas trees growing in a field off the hay field. All summer I planned to take pictures of that field as the rows between the trees were magnificent with tall shoots of white queen anne's lace. The contrast between the flowering herb and the growing blue spruce trees always was calming to see. But alas, I never did. Beu caught it, at the end of the season, still beautiful, but different than it was in the summer. And some new photos of how Beulah has changed my old house with some before and after pictures. The before being mine, the after being hers.My work in the barns continues. Today I took a trailer load from the farmhouse porch to the barn. I have another trailer to load up. I must work at this each day if possible to be ready for the inevitable snow. You know WHOSE truck will sit in the snowbank, don't you? Un-huh. Mine. Today however, it is 85 degrees and not conducive to be working in the barn. It was a good day however, to overdye several pairs of Mrs Seeley's red mittens to a muted primitive color I so favor. I much prefer the drying in the sun, to baking in my oven on a rainy cold day.I have been going through my computer files and for crow soup in mid October plan to offer a compiled photographs CD of my old house as it looked when I lived there, both in Christmas and every day. Also a CD of the farmhouse. Another one of the farm in seasons, and probably some stills of items we made and sold that made some great pictures. So be sure to check the crow soup out and US of course too. The old pictures of my house have been off our website for some time, so this will be a chance to revisit the house! Some of you have written me about our photographs and I sincerely appreciate your most kind words about them, as you know my talents surely do NOT include photography. For every picture you see that I did, there are 4 others that didn't make it! But I love trying to capture the sun as it moves through the farmhouse, as each day while it moves lower in the sky, it casts its impressive light in another area of a room. I believe I am becoming a camera junkie!I was so very impressed as I mentioned earlier with Candy Looker and Max's houses in the video they sold of their very primitive houses (www.simplegoods.net ), so I thought perhaps you might be interested in a CD with many pictures of another primitive house. I made a mental count when I was going thru the pictures and think there will be 70 or so pictures on each CD. Price will be reasonable and will include shipping. I will give more details by the 15th. My hope is, this is something that will interest you.Ok, I best get back to filling up another trailer and getting it to the barn. As I cannot BACK up a trailer worth dittly, Ronnie has to go back it up for me. These days go fast, and I am continually mindful of the fact that October is fleeting and November follows it, sometimes and often with Mother Nature showing her power in storms and bitter cold.Enjoy the new pictures! If you live in a town or city, this is what farm life looks like. I LOVE this farm!in fond regard,Tilda & Beulah
