High Button ShoeNovember 7, 2007new stuff....today has been spent going thru my vast boxes of patterns, meant only today to be more organized, but of course you know, I must stop and look at them as I go, so it has been a tad more time consuming than I planned on. My initial plan for today was to work in more boxes to be moved in the pole barn, so this is a nice alternate plan, as it is cold out and being in the cold pole barn working on cold cement floors (yes, I had on boots !) didn't sound like a plan at all. You can possibly see why I don't get things done some days! Anyway, I worked there all afternoon yesterday with spitting snow hitting the metal sides of the building reminding me of the nasty weather outside. We awoke to 3-4 inches of snow on the ground yesterday and flat out blowing winter winds. And my truck sitting smack dab in the middle of the snow. I am close to getting that last garage stall cleared out. Until then, my truck remains out in the snow bank. It occured to me, to leave it there for the winter. The snow plower of the farm has other plans. So, that means more hours spent (for ME) moving boxes. The end result of all these boxes still is the same. I know NOT where anything is! Yes, the boxes are marked. But when 1/2 of the pole barn is stacked 3 and 4 high with boxes, I still have no idea what box things are in. The barn is fuller yet and our basement is a nightmare maze of boxes with paths thru them. Never described as organized, I am perhaps more organized than I have ever been in the fact that things are packed in like description and boxes are marked. But the fact remains. I don't know where anything is! With fall weather turning more nasty, my thoughts turn to homemade soups. The bean soup in particular is wonderful and cooks all day in the crock pot. That would be the crock pot I haven't seen since May or June. NOT that it wouldn't be noticeable. It is one of those nice big oval white ones I only bought last winter. Thankfully in a moment of good thinking, I took one of my old cookpans out of the trash where I had thrown the others prior to the move here, and while it looks terrible due to age and years of use, it still makes good soup. It is a good size and without a recipe to go by, I know how many ingredients to put in there and what it will hold. But the missing crock pot still bothers me.So anyway, today, I have organized patterns to put on a shelf, if I can find one, in the basement. I also dug out a few things that were being packed away and brought them in to be photographed for sale. Preferring to still take pictures out on the porch in natural light, it is very windy and cold. So my plans to do that are on hold for a better day or until I can get some good lighting here in the farmhouse. I know. You're holding your breath.I did want to tell you however, that Beulah got some new things up on the website last night. under the newest...www.highbuttonshoe.net/recent.htm They are showcasing some holiday themed items. So please take a look. After organizing the patterns, I worked on some old bottles I am doing something with. The entire house has the aroma of my efforts. A strong smell of spices. They will be shown in a few days, after they thoroughly dry.Let me know if you are interested in any of the newest.. Thanks for looking.in fondest regard, Tilda
