June Newsletter
Okay..I know I missed the first of the month AGAIN! And you were waiting by the computer, too. Even putting that coffeemate back into my coffee so I can drink more than one cup a day hasn't improved my ambition much. I am still dragging my hind leg around behind me, and can't seem to accomplish what I intend to do for the day. Ron's working 5/10's and I get up at 5:15 each morning. OK, I realize many of you do that and have no sympathy for me! BUT IF I could just sleep until 5:45 or 6AM, I would do so muuuuuccccchhhh better. I never get to bed before 11PM and then don't always sleep. Middle aged woman, (EARLY middle aged!!) no hormones, OR faulty old ones at best. I need some sleep!! or some chocolate. I have given that (chocolate) up. the last dimple on my left ankle reminded me that I am way too fond of chocolate. darn it, I see I have reverted back to my habit of typing with no capital letters. bear with me. I am typing today with a big Band-Aid on my index finger. One of those....you KNOW better than to open that container with a knife like that and you did it anyway, so now you have to limp around the rest of the week, handicapped with a Band-Aid on your half sliced off finger. Actually it's only a cut. But it surely did bleed. I will no doubt be wiping up blood off things most of the day. And I am notorious for not being able to keep a Band-Aid on for more than a few minutes. I have this one anchored to my finger tho. Might make it thru the whole day IF I don't wash dishes or my hands or sweat. Humm. Had to reread that last sentence to see if I mis-typed the word sweat to swear, which might have also been appropriate! First on the agenda is to remind you to check out www.rantingraven.com The new issue came out yesterday. click on the directory. Angie reminds me that just because i show you the website doesn't mean you necessarily know how to navigate it and can't always find WHY I told you to go there. Same is true for www.crowsoup.com. you have to click on the crafters magazine place up in the left hand corner. that opens up where all the places are. Check out The Wired Crow, High Button Shoe (me), and I must tell you about the kindness of another exhibitor. Joanna of JoHannas Cedar House Primitives. Like many business adventures of this day, this is a cut throat business. but we meet a lot of wonderful caring people along the way too. Joanne put a mention of High Button Shoe and the sheep we offer for sale in HER ad along with her sheep. (on her website) As I come to know her better, I should not be surprised by this unusual kindness, but I just want you to know there are still people like her out there. THANK YOU Joanne. We all need gentle reminders of the nice people in the world!! We offered 3 new samplers to view on ranting raven this month. We are gearing up for the show at SaltboxFarm on June 21 near Howard City. MI. I am really looking forward to this. If you live in Michigan, this is a wonderful shop to visit. Sharon has invited 8 or more others vendors to set up on the yards of her lovely shop for an event. You can view her shop at www.saltboxfarm.com Another event to consider is Friendship Farm's Annual Summer Barn Sale Saturday June 28th at Schoolcraft Mi. Five rooms and a loft full ot tables, cupboards, twig furniture, primitives, smalls, and signs. Call 269-679-4552 for more details and ask for Kathy. Schoolcraft is located just above the Michigan state line on US131. Spring is still slow to us. Last night (June 1) we had 38 degrees. I will NEVER get these plants planted IF it doesn't stop freezing! It has been cold and lots of rain. The upside of rain, is the plush green, evidenced everywhere you look. And in yet another rainy day, Ronnie put another 300# of fertilizer on our primary lawn, (where our house is), second application in one month. I am now chained to the lawn mower! But I love mowing lawns and the smell of cut grass, and the look of fresh cut manicured lawns. I LOVE GRASS. My heart smiles when I am out doors mowing. Beats waxing the kitchen floor. Which by the way, is long overdue. Anyway, I have an appointment with the seat of the mower, so better get at it..before IT RAINS AGAIN. Thanks for asking to be a part of our farm. I am working on several new things that will be shown in the next couple months on our site, and should be working feverishly (as that slave worker husband Ron suggests) for our trip to Nashville TN for the show August 1. May have to revert back to the chocolate fetish which my body is used to, to get the necessary ummppppthhh that it needs to have to get going in this direction. Coffeemate can only do SO much!! Pat from www.highbuttonshoe.net PS. I am still holding out hope for the rosemary plant...however, I believe dormant has been downgraded to dead. I am still watering it and giving it sun, just in case.
